Canada will send troops to Eastern Europe

Canada will send 125 military to NATO bases in Central and Eastern Europe.

Department of National Defense and Canadian Armed Forces reports that a transfer of soldiers and officers of the Royal Canadian Regiment will take place on Monday, March 2.

Ottawa plans to use its military in NATO’s “European Reassurance Initiative.” Thus, it provides, inter alia, joint training and exercises of NATO troops.

Earlier, it was reported that the United States would increase its support for NATO allies in Eastern Europe. Article 5 of NATO Charter states that an armed attack against one or more NATO ally in Europe or North America shall be considered as an attack against NATO as a whole. If such armed attack takes place, each country will provide assistance, including the use of armed forces, in order to restore and maintain the security of the North Atlantic region.
